About Health & Wellness

The Dublin GAA Health and Wellbeing Initiative re-affirms the World Health Organisations view that "Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." Playing sport and being part of a sporting community play a central role in constructing the overall ‘health and wellbeing jigsaw”. As individuals and communities we need to look after all aspects of our health.

The Dublin GAA initiative aims to put mental and physical health on an equal footing and remove any existing stigmas around looking for professional help and community support for any of the health issues or concerns we come across as part of our daily lives The message is clear - Lets all support each other in recognising the importance of four key values, (HILL):

  1. Health and fitness integration;
  2. Inclusion - looking after our own and each other’s physical and mental health, and improving our overall wellbeing.
  3. We will do this through Listening and supporting each other, spreading our message, providing up to date resources, raising awareness, opening the discussions and being there for each other.
  4. Above all we look forward to Lifelong participation in our GAA games, clubs and communities
