Dublin GAA Juvenile update Monday September 15th

Mon, 15th September 2014

A Rúnaí, a chara,

Fixtures for the week are below but I wish to draw your attention to the CCC2 referee process ONE AGAIN.

Contacting CCC2 ( U/13 to U/16 Referees)

It is most disappointing that once again I have to request you to bring the following information to the attention of your CCC2 Mentors.

Last week CCC2 had to replace 38 referees.

It is vital all mentors make contact with the appointed referee by the Wednesday night prior to the weekend. It is incredible that mentors still feel that there is no need to check on the referees availability. From speaking to referees I am told out of ten games, only one out of ten mentors will contact the referee beforehand. Clubs just assume the referee will arrive.

Every Home Mentor is expected to make contact by 9pm Wednesday night with the assigned Referee for this weekend’s fixture.

To repeat .... This simply DOES NOT HAPPEN for over 70%+ games . Most Home Mentors just can’t be bothered. For those who do bother the first contact with the referee is often on Thursday or even Friday night , with the mentor assuming that a simple call to CCC2 will sort out any non-availability. In addition, some Mentors feel that while it is appropriate for them to mutually agree with their opposite number in regard to changing the match time of the fixture or venue , they assume the referee will be available and if not CCC2 will again sort it out.

Please let your mentors be fully aware that:

Mentors, when dealing with juvenile players (children) and parents, do not make last minute changes to starting times. Therefore the Referee should be informed by the Wednesday if the time of a fixture, or indeed the venue, is changing.

If all parties including the Referee are in agreement there is no problem BUT CCC2 will not accept mentors acting alone without involving the Referee AND assuming CCC2 will sort out any issues.

This behaviour is not acceptable to CCC2.

Please also ensure that your mentors are fully aware that clubs do not appoint referees, that is the function of CCC2. If no referee is available by the start time of a fixture, CCC2 regulations clearly state that the AWAY team takes charge of the game in the absence of a referee( except in the case of Championship / Shield fixtures).

All CCC2 Referee contact details ( with their agreement ) appear on the website https://www.dublingaa.ie/juvenile/other-downloads

CCC2 Mentors should not be contacting Juvenile Club Referee Coordinators.. The Referee Coordinator in each club allocates our young referees for GO GAME ( CCC1 U/8-U/12) Fixtures only.

To conclude:

If the assigned referee has indicated that he is not available for the fixture, the Home Mentor should have send a text message to 087-9911692 (this is Juvenile Result Text number) informing CCC2.

Based on this information, CCC2 will reassign replacement Referees and a text will be sent to the Home and Away Mentors on Thursday afternoon with the name of the Referee.

From Thursday onwards, Derek Doran (087-6593785) should be contacted to source a replacement Referee. The only reason a Mentor should contact Derek is that the Referee, with whom you have previously confirmed his availability, is no longer in a position to take charge of your game.

If the CCC2 Referee assignment process is followed, CCC2 and Derek should expect a few requests each week for replacement referee after Wednesday night.es.

U/9 Hurling Blitz for Saturday September 27th

The fixture details are included and medals need to be collected by the HOST Club from next Monday on-wards September 22nd

Damian
