Conal Keaney: Current squad is best I have been on

Thu, 21st May 2015

Dublin hurler Conal Keaney says there are places still up for grabs in Ger Cunningham's starting 15 as they zone in on Sunday week's Leinster SHC clash against Galway in Croke Park (2.0).

"I couldn't tell you what the team is and we are less than two weeks out which is good and it will come down to training and who is playing well" says Conal.

The Ballyboden St Enda's man is 'chomping at the bit' for the Championship action to get underway and get into Croker for this duel with the Tribemen.

"I'm just looking forward to this year with this squad that we have. This squad of hurlers is probably the best squad I've ever been on . . . it's so competitive, everyone is probably on the same level and everyone is ambitious and motivated. So we have all the right ingredients to go and get success."

In relation to the test that Galway will provide, Conal says the teams are very familiar with each other so desire and hunger on the day could be crucial factors.

"They beat us in the Walsh Cup in Parnell Park but we had a good win over them in the League in Croke Park but again the League is the League and I think they were missing a few lads as were we but we are not expecting anything less than a big, physical, hard challenge against Galway."

"The always set up a bit defensively and kind of try and attack on the break. They have some great hurlers in their whole squad and great lads to bring on."

"We are well aware of each other and have battled it out with each other a lot now in the last three or four years."

"It will come down to who really wants it the most on Sunday week. I'd like to think we still have a lot of hunger deep down to go one step further but Galway I am sure will have a few things to say about that."
