Féile Fever: Whitehall Colmcilles secure top honours

Tue, 19th May 2015

Whitehall Colmcille's were crowned Dublin Féile Peil na nOg Division 1 champions after overcoming a talented St Sylvester's 2-7 to 2-4 in Sunday's decider at Parnell Park.

Syls set the tempo early on with Sean Guiden firing over two frees, their lead was extended when the same player crashed the ball to the net and the signs were good for the Malahide lads.

However, inspired by Kerrie Hannon Whitehall Colmcille established a foothold in the game and his 13th minute goal brought his side right back into contention.

Before the break the sides exchanged goals with Danny Taaffe and Sean Bohan both raising green flags to leave Whitehall in front 2-3 to 2-2 at the interval.

Crucially it was Whitehall who took charge on the restart with four unanswered points from Bohan, Sean Giles, Eddie Moran and Niall Carroll and it was this purple patch that ultimately secured victory for Colmcilles despite a gallant Sylvester's battling all the way to the final whistle.

In the Division 2 decider at Blakestown Road goals from Cathal Brennan, Dara Moreau and Dara Fagan helped Clontarf to a 3-5 to 0-7 victory over St Vincent's.

Templeogue Synge Street were just too strong for Raheny in the Division 3 final as they prevailed 2-7 to 2-3 with strong showings from Matthew McGettrick, Lorcan O'Dell and Killian Power.

St Oliver Plunkett's Eoghan Ruadh took the honours in Division 4 when they held off Thomas Davis 3-4 to 1-3 in Blakestown Road while in Division 5 Ballymun Kickhams, with Glenn Sheridan to the fore, defeated Parnell's 4-9 to 1-5.

The other Divisional winners were - Division 6: St James Gaels 3-8 Erin Go Bragh 1-7; Division 7: Crumlin 1-7 Lucan Sarsfields B 0-4; Divisino 8: Liffey Gaels 4-4 Kilmacud Crokes 3-3; Division 9: Trinity Gaels 3-7 O'Dwyer's 1-6.
