Sun, 28th February 2016

Dublin minor footballers topped Group 1 of the Leinster MFL following their 3-16 to 0-6 victory over Kildare in Parnell Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Lilywhites had two teams in the competition and fielded their stronger panel in the other group from which they progressed to the semi-finals in two weeks' time when they will face Laois, the Dubs will have home advantage in the semi-final for their game against Meath (Saturday, March 12).

Dublin led 1-4 to 0-4 at half-time with Cormac Howley getting the goal following good work by Tom Keane in the 19th minute.

However, Dublin also had to thank goalkeeper Evan Comerford as he denied Cian Costigan in the 21st minute when he broke through on goal.

Dublin's score-taking improved in the second period with an early flurry of scores from Ross McGarry, Tom Keane and Michael Courtney strengthening their advantage.

Goals inside the final ten minutes form James Madden and Ross McGarry ensured that Dublin progress to the semi-final on scoring difference over Cork who defeated Wexford 0-10 to 0-8.
