Minor footballers target more improvement

Tue, 18th July 2017

With the Leinster MFC safely secured the Dublin minor footballers now turn their attention immediately to the All-Ireland Series.

The Dubs overcame Louth with 13 points to spare last Sunday (2-19 to 0-12) in the Leinster MFC final and will face beaten Munster finalists Clare in their All-Ireland quarter-final in early August.

Dublin manager Tom Gray is targeting more improvement from his side in the weeks ahead.

“We started very well and converted 13 out of 16 scoring chances in the first half and that probably won the game in the end.

"Our defence never gave up and they showed that all the way through and they showed it again in the second half,” says Tom.

“The second half was a bit sloppy but in fairness, we were nine or ten points up at half-time, so we will take the first half performance but maybe not the second half.

“We started slowly this year and it has been far from perfect and if we are going to win the All-Ireland, we are going to need to kick on from here.

“MInor is a strange grade you can get some inconsistent performances at times."
