O’Leary’s goal sees Skerries crowned U21FC ‘B’ winners

Tue, 16th December 2014

Oisin O'Leary, son of Dublin football legend John, got the all-important only goal as Skerries Harps defeated Templeogue Synge St, 1-6 to 0-7, in Sunday's Dublin U21FC 'B' final at O'Toole Park.

Synger almost nicked a winner in injury-time but the Skerries defence foiled Killian O'Gara in the danger zone as he attempt to snatch victory for his side.

Points from O'Leary, the deadball accuracy of keeper Shane Davis and Paul Cashman had Skerries 0-4 to 0-3 to the good at the break with Synger's scores coming from Joe Varley, O'Gara and Niall Scully (free).

Six minutes into the second half O'Leary struck for his goal and when Stephen Smith added a point Skerries led by five points, 1-5 to 0-3.

However, two Scully frees cut the deficit and in a tight finish Skerries did enough to stave off Synger's late pressure.
