O’Rorke on the double as Crokes move into SHC semi-finals

O’Rorke on the double as Crokes move into SHC semi-finals

Fri, 30th September 2016

KILMACUD CROKES 3-11 CRAOBH CHIARAIN 1-6

Oisín O’Rorke showed all the goal-poaching skills of a man in form as his two first half goals helped Crokes to victory in this Dublin SHC ‘A’ quarter-final at Parnell Park on Friday night.

The Kilmacud Crokes forward had a couple of points to his credit by the time he struck for his first goal in the 15th minute when the influential Seán McGrath placed O’Rorke and despite keeper Stephen Chester stopping his initial attempt he followed up to find the net.

Naomhán Ó Riordáin could have had a second goal for Crokes before O’Rorke raised his second green flag in the 21st minute, again on hand to find the net after Chester had denied Caolan Conway as the southsiders entered the break 2-8 to 1-4 to the good with Dublin minor of this year Conor Ryan getting the Chiaráins goal.

Robbie Mahon, Crokes scorer-in-chief with 0-6 (0-3f), got Craobh out of the traps on the restart.

Crokes went 15 minutes without a score before Cian Mac Gabhann broke their deadlock.

The outcome was fully decided in the 42nd minute when Seán McGrath hit goal number three for Kilmacud Crokes.

Both sides finished with 14 men when Caolan Conway (Crokes) and Darren Kelly (Craobh) were dismissed before the finish.
