The energy is there: Eoghan O’Gara

Sat, 1st October 2016

Dublin forward Eoghan O'Gara is hopeful the Dubs can make the most of the second chance saloon when they face Mayo in Saturday's replayed All-Ireland SFC final in Croke Park (5.0).

The Dublin attack was well curtailed in the drawn encounter so will be looking to step up significantly this time around.

“I would say the preparation going into this game has been spot on for us. The hunger is there, the energy is there," says Eoghan.

The powerful Templeogue Synge St man missed out last year's championship owing to a knee injury but returned to the colours when coming off the bench in Dublin's opening clash with Laois in Nowlan Park, Kilkenny.

“This is the where I wanted to be this time last year when I was sitting in the stands watching the All-Ireland final. I wanted to be in this position again.

“All I’ve ever wanted to do since I’ve started playing for Dublin is to be on the pitch, playing the matches. That’s all I’ve ever wanted.

“Last year, I was delighted for the lads but it was a little bit bitter-sweet.”
