There’s wonderful spirit in the camp: Ciara Trant

Sat, 24th September 2016

Dublin goalkeeper Ciara Trant is hoping the true grit the girls in blue showed in their recent victories against Donegal and Mayo will stand to them against an all-conquering Cork team in Sunday's TG4 Ladies All-Ireland SFC final at Croke Park (4.0).

The mettle of Gregory McGonigle's side was supremely tested in both their quarter-final and semi-final victories - with Sinéad Aherne's last-gasp free as Dublin went for broke earning them a berth in Sunday's decider against the Rebelettes who are chasing their sixth title in-a-row and tenth in 11 seasons.

"Our defence is phenomenal and we also have wonderful forwards," says Ciara.

"There is great resolve in the team to keep going. To just go out and do it.

"There's wonderful spirit among the players. We all stand up for each other. And no matter how the game is going, we have every confidence in each other.

"And I think we proved that in the wins over Donegal and Mayo."

The St Brigid's girl does not think last year's final will have any bearing on the outcome this weekend.

The Jackies held a commanding lead on that occasion but were reeled in as Cork landed the Brendan Martin Cup once again.

"That's all in the past now. There's nothing anybody can do about that. And I'm sure Cork feel the same.

"It's all about the game now, and concentrating on what we can control," adds Ciara.
