Treacy points way for Cuala to AHL1 title

Sun, 11th September 2016

Cuala are the 2016 Dublin Adult Hurling League Division 1 champions after overcoming O'Toole's 0-18 to 0-14 in Parnell Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Dalkey side laid the platform for their success in the opening half and led by 0-10 to 0-4 at the break.

Cuala's half-back line of John Sheanon, Paul Schutte and Ross Tierney were prominent while the freetaking of David Treacy kept the scoreboard ticking over.

Dublin senior Treacy finished with a personal tally of 0-7, including six frees, while his intercounty team-mate Darragh O'Connell shot three points from play over the 60 minutes.

The Larriers restarted well though with two pointed Niall Arthur frees and a point from play by Liam Ryan reduced the deficit to three points, 0-10 to 0-7.

However, Colm Cronin drove over two points in quick succession to break O'Toole's early momentum.

Late on two Ger Arthur scores reduced the deficit to three again but a David Treacy free ensured their was no late slip-up by Cuala.
