I hope everybody is keeping well and staying safe.
The GAA Motions passed at the recent Congress became effective March 28th.
One of the changes states :
In Underage Hurling up to and including U12 age groups the use of metal bands on hurleys is prohibited unless the metal bands are taped over.
The other big playing rule change is
A player in receipt of a kick-out cannot pass the ball directly back to his goalkeeper.
PENALTY FOR BREACH OFTHISRULE–A free kick will be awarded to the opposition from the position the goalkeeper receives the pass, or if the goalkeeper is inside the 13m line when in receipt of the pass the free will be from the13m line opposite where the foul occurred.
For those looking for more reading I attach the full outcome of all motions before the 2020 Congress which can also be viewed/ downloaded at
A great resource to utilise at the moment is the Dublin GAA Coaching and Games Development website.
Our aim is to provide coaches with as much information & training to help make them the best coaches they can be - whether you are coaching children, youths or adults. We do this by providing access to to the GAA coach education programmes and a wide variety of practical workshops in football and hurling. Coach development is assumed as an all-encompassing term that refers to the process leading towards enhanced expertise. The GAA coach education systems offers programmes for child, youth and adult coaches across three levels.
