Under 16 Hurling & Football update Thursday 2nd September

Thu, 2nd September 2021

This Saturday sees the start of our U16 Championships.

All these games are Group matches and therefore no extra time required.

However, they are Championship games and I wish to highlight a few regulations which are different to those applied to the recent U16 Leagues and still applicable for all remaining U13, U14 & U15 games for the rest of the season.

Apply to U16 Championships:

19. All competitions are 15 a-side, but where necessary a minimum of 13 aside can be played. This regulation applies to all grades of Championship and Shield Competitions.

20. Both teams must play equal numbers and the MAXIMUM number available to both teams must be played e.g. if both sides have 14 then NO players are to be held back as substitutes. If a game has commenced with reduced numbers and additional player or players arrive, both teams must play the maximum number available i.e. 14 or 15.

31.In all other matters the rules of T.O. 2021 apply.

This means the maximum number of substitutes allowed in a game is FIVE (5) – no unlimited subs for U16 Championship games.
