Sun, 21st October 2018

FAUGHS 2-17 ST OLIVER PLUNKETT’S/EOGHAN RUADH 2-8

Famed Dublin hurling club Faughs added the 2018 Dublin SHC 'B' to their roll of honour after seeing off St Oliver Plunkett's/Eoghan Ruadh in Sunday's decider at Parnell Park.

Faughs have won the Dublin SHC 31 times in their history, topping the roll of honour, and next alongside fellow finalists Plunkett's will compete in the Senior 'A' top-flight.

The southsiders made the better start with Fergal Heavey breaking through for goal in only the fourth minute of this well-contested clash.

By the interval Faughs were 1-9 to 0-6 to the good with David Croke, top-scorer Chris Bennett and Heavey all on target.

Five minutes into the second-half Faughs extended their advantage when Conor O'Shea fired to the net.

However, Plunkett's didn't give in and were reward with a Sean Clerkin goal in the 37th minute.

Ten minutes later former Dublin senior Stuart Mullen grabbed a second goal for the Navan Road men.

But Bennett kept the scoreboard ticking to see Faughs home with nine points to spare.
