Cuala boss Maher praises his troops

Cuala manager Willie Maher praised the dedication and hard work ethic of his players following Sunday's Dublin SHC 'A' final success in Parnell Park.

The Dalkey side won the Dublin Senior Championship for the seventh time in their history and will now face Carlow champions, St Mullin's, away in the Leinster Club SHC in two weeks' time.

The southsiders had to overcome the early loss of Con O'Callaghan through injury, just after he had hit the opening score of the game, a great goal after just three minutes.

“Everyone else dug in then. And that was the beauty of today. We won as a team. And that was really satisfying,” said the Cuala manager.

Next up for Cuala is Carlow's St Mullin's who defeated Mouth Leinster Rangers 2-17 to 1-19 in their county final on Sunday, to stop MLR from doing a three in-a-row.

Marty Kavanagh was the primary source of inspiration for St Mullin's, scoring 0-10 (including five frees).

"Hurling at any time of year is great but hurling at this time of year is really, really good. It’s really honest," add Willie Maher.

“You saw that from today. It was a really fantastic match. We were just delighted to come out the right side of it

"I’m just really happy for the group. They trained really hard. Lads put a huge amount into this.

“There’s a huge community behind this team, as you can see from the crowd there.

"It’s great. It’s a great feeling to win with your club. And I’m delighted for the guys.”
