Dean Rock credits team-mates for Leinster final goal

Tue, 24th November 2020

Dean Rock has praised the contribution of his team-mates in his early goal against Meath in last Saturday night's Leinster SFC final victory at Croke Park.

Dublin's all-time top scorer (combined NFL/SFC) brought his senior career tally to a total of 18-472 by scoring 1-7 (0-5f, 0-1 '45') against the Royal County last weekend with his goal coming at the end of a devastating move in the eighth minute.

"Look it was a team goal. Brian Fenton put it on a plate for me and obviously I finished it," said the Ballymun Kickhams clubman.

"I think in the first half we were quite clinical with our score-taking and managed to get a big lead in at half-time.

"It was all about team scores and team play in attack and defence.

"We train well as a group and we have been playing well together as a squad and you know there is 10 or 12 players who weren’t here.

"They would have loved to have been here together as well, they are pushing things as well, so it’s a great environment to be in at the moment," added Dean

"We take great pride in each Leinster title we win and each game in the Leinster Championship.

"It’s been a struggle this year for everybody, so to celebrate with a Leinster title is massive for people in Dublin as well."
