2026 Dublin Minor Captains are announced!

Dublin LGFA are delighted to announce that Sophie McDonnell from Naomh Mearnóg and Laoise Murtagh representing St Maurs have been named as captain and vice-captain of the 2026 Dublin minor football panel.

Sophie and Laoise both played a major role in Dublin recapturing the Leinster minor A championship title this season and in doing so helped bridge a seven-year gap since Dublin’s last provincial success at this grade.

Both players would go on to feature strongly in their sides All Ireland series campaign which led to a final appearance versus Cork last July.

Sophie was a member of the Dublin U16 panel who won the Leinster A title back in 2024. Impressively she went on to command a Dublin minor midfield berth the following season while still under seventeen.

Laoise only made her Inter County debut in 2025. It is a testament to her drive and commitment that she has now been named as Dublin vice-captain in this her second season playing County football.

Dublin will commence their Leinster minor championship campaign with an away fixture versus Meath on February 28th, next up will be a second away game this time to Wexford on March 21st. Their final round fixture will be a home clash with Kildare on the 6th of April.
