A look back at the Go-Ahead Ireland Junior A Hurling Championship Action
Mon, 14 July 2025

Faughs opened up their Go-Ahead Ireland Junior ‘A’ Hurling Championship campaign on a winning note as they accounted for their nearest of neighbours St Jude’s by 4-22 to 3-8 in their Group 1 encounter at Tymon Park on Sunday morning.

The foundation for their victory lay in the excellence of their half-back line of Sean Kenny, Niall Fitzgibbon and Colm Leahy while their midfield pairing of Oisin Walsh (0-4) and Cormac Dowd (0-2) kept Faughs on the front foot.

Sam Lewis top scored with 2-2 as Faughs took the game away from their opponents thanks to 1-3 by Eddie Hogan and four Eoin Brennan points.

Matters were far tighter in Skerries as Ballyboden St Enda’s eked out a 0-22 to 2-15 win against Skerries Harps.

Cian Kelly and Dermot Coffey provided the bulk of the Boden scores while at the opposite end of the pitch, John Murray impressed in his corner-back duties.

A trio of away wins in Group 1 was confirmed at Martin Savage Park as Clanna Gael Fontenoy defeated St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh by 0-23 to 0-18.

The only home success in the sextet of matches occurred at McGee Park as St Mark’s defeated St Finian’s Swords by 2-15 to 0-14 in their Group 2 encounter.

The sides were deadlocked at 1-8 to 0-11 at the interval with Liam McLoughlin scoring the home goal and he chipped in with three vital points as the contest evolved.

St Mark’s were reduced to fourteen with ten minutes remaining but had enough in the locker to prevail thanks to six Gar Mahon points, a Gary Kett goal and three points from play by Martin Kavanagh.

At the 12th Lock, Lucan Sarsfields looked set for victory against Thomas Davis but the visitors plundered 1-2 in added time to share the spoils on a scoreline of 3-14 to 2-17.

The final match on Sunday morning saw Kevins pull away in the second-half as they got the better of Raheny by 1-21 to 0-16 in St Anne’s Park.

The visitors led by 0-11 to 0-8 at half-time but a Brian Considine goal upon the restart put further distance between the teams as Kevins eased home thanks to further scores by David Reid, Declan Power, Dan O’Loughlin, Adam Mitchell and Karl Walsh.
