A Round-Up of Tuesday's Go-Ahead Ireland AFL1 & AFL2 action
Wed, 2 July 2025

Ballyboden St Enda’s maintained their lead at the top of the Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Adult Football League Division 1 table when overcoming Lucan Sarsfields by 4-13 to 0-7 at the 12th Lock on Tuesday night.

The hosts started impressively through an excellent Mark Lavin score and Darren Gavin’s aerial dominance from midfield before Boden settled into the tie courtesy of points from David Keogh, Ryan O’Dwyer and John McGuire.

The visitors finished the first-half strongly with goals by O’Dwyer and McGuire building a 2-6 to 0-6 lead by the turnaround.

St Enda’s remained in control after the break with scores by Mark Walsh and Luke O’Donoghue leaving them comfortable winners by the final whistle.

That victory leaves them a point clear at the summit from a Na Fianna team that defeated St Mary’s Saggart by 2-17 to 0-3 at St Mobhi Road with Sean Caffrey netting twice for the hosts in the second-half.

In Robbie Farrell Park, Ballinteer St John’s pulled away after the break on their way to a 3-14 to 1-14 victory over third-placed St Patrick’s Donabate.

The teams were deadlocked at 1-8 to 2-5 at the interval with away goals from Fearghal Duffy and Joey Quirke augmented by points from Eoghan Fitzpatrick, Quirke and Jack Long.

With David Devereux, Joe Sweeney, Duffy and Liam Smith all to the fore, St John’s seized control in the second-half through another Duffy goal and insurance points by Jack Lundy, Sweeney, Aaron Bradshaw and Smith.

In St Anne’s Park, Clontarf finished their campaign on a positive note as they got the better of Thomas Davis 1-27 to 2-8.

The likes of Sean O’Grady, Luke O’Boyle, Ben Kelly, Eoin Doherty and Alex Byrne ensured that the hosts dominated matters initially as they enjoyed a 0-13 to 1-4 interval lead.

They maintained that control in the third quarter as David Egan netted with the influential John Hanley, Nathan Doran and Sean Horkan keeping Clontarf on the front foot despite a late Thomas Davis rally.

While St Brigid’s edged Fingallians by 3-17 to 3-13 in Lawless Park, matters were even tighter in St Anne’s Park as Raheny narrowly overcame Whitehall Colmcille by 2-25 to 4-18.

Both teams welcomed back their Dublin contingent with Sean MacMahon and Brian Howard returning for the hosts while Lee Gannon and Eoghan O’Donnell togged out for Whitehall.

O’Donnell proved a handful throughout from full-forward despite Raheny dominating the opening twenty minutes through two-pointed efforts from play by Howard, Colin McAweeney, Paddy Reid and Jack Fagan.

Darren Lunney was in sparkling form for the hosts with his brace of first-half goals building a 2-15 to 2-7 buffer by the interval.

Colmcille fought back impressively in the second-half, drawing level late on but a second two-pointed free from goalkeeper Rob Hennelly proved the decisive score in the dying minutes.
