It was another curtailed weekend of action in Division 1 of the Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Adult Hurling League with only four of the scheduled six matches taking place.
There was still plenty of action at both ends of the table as Lucan Sarsfields kept up their title ambitions as they pipped Ballyboden St Enda’s A by 4-19 to 1-27 at the 12th Lock on Saturday afternoon.
There was a lively start to proceedings as Ben Coffey netted early for the hosts but St Enda’s kept in touch in the early jousts through points by Pearce Christie and David Gleeson.
Boden faced an uphill task as David Mulqueen struck two goals in quick succession for Lucan but the visitors bounced back well thanks to scores by Niall Ryan and Timmy Hammersley as they reduced their deficit to two points (3-10 to 1-14) by half-time.
The contest remained tight upon the restart with Conor Dooley and Davy Keogh impressing for the visitors but Lucan kept their noses in front as Mulqueen completed his hat-trick midway through the half.
Scores were traded at regular intervals from that juncture but a trio of Coffey frees and a Donie Flannery point proved key as Lucan joined league leaders Kilmacud Crokes on fifteen points, albeit having played one more game.
Elsewhere, Faughs handed themselves a survival lifeline as Fergal Heavey struck the winning point in their narrow 1-21 to 2-17 win against St Brigid’s at Tymon Park.
James O’Brien top scored for the hosts with 0-8 (4f) while both Seán Kenny and Oisín Walsh scored four points apiece for a Faughs team best served over the hour by Joe Kenny, Sean McDonald, Kenny and Jake Moore.
Eoghan Brennan raised their sole green flag with McDonald, Heavey, Conor Kenny, Moore and Conor Brennan all adding vital points in their one-point success.
