Mon, 16 June 2025

Commercials and Naomh Olaf secured their promotion from Division 3 of the Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Adult Hurling League with contrasting wins against Bray Emmets and Cuala respectively on Sunday morning.

In Bray, Commercials showcased their attacking excellence as they eased to an emphatic 4-18 to 0-10 over Bray Emmets with Sean McCarthy, Daniel O’Kelly, Adam Drewett and Declan Molloy all raising green flags for the Rathcoole side.

At the opposite end of the field, both Neil Lawless and Tadhg Morris impressed in a defensive capacity while youthful substitute Dean Simpson made a strong impression when introduced off the bench.

It proved far tighter in Páirc Uí Bhriain as Naomh Olaf did just enough to edge Cuala by 1-18 to 1-16.

Colum Sheanon shone for the visitors in addition to scoring their goal but a goal at the opposite end by Harrison Byrne and three points from Matthew Sharpe were enough to get Olaf’s over the line.

Elsewhere, Round Towers Clondalkin impressed from the outset when getting the better of Na Fianna by 3-17 to 2-14 at Monastery Road on Thursday night.

The foundation for their victory lay at the back through the defensive efforts of captain Gary Quinlivan while Alex O’Neill and Adam Doyle were others to impress for Towers.

Cian O’Rourke excelled in attack for the hosts with his 1-5 from play helping bring his goal tally to 13 for the season with Craig Doherty (1-6) and Eric Finn (1-3) building a winning total by the final whistle.

Setanta are another team finishing the season towards the summit of the table as they registered their sixth win of the campaign when overcoming Lucan Sarsfields by 2-19 to 0-15 on Thursday night in Poppintree.

There was only two points separating the sides at half-time but goals from Fionntan MacGiband Craig O’Hara helped turn the side in Setanta’s favour.

At the opposite end of the field, both Peter Treanor at centre-back and Alex Mulvihill at corner-back impressed for the hosts, who pulled away courtesy of 0-13 over the hour from Ryan Clarke.

In Go-Ahead Ireland AHL4, Crumlin continued to keep up the pressure on league leaders Kilmacud Crokes following their comfortable 5-29 to 1-16 win over near neighbours Faughs in Pearse Park.

In a high-scoring encounter, the hosts were indebted to the likes of Conor Foley, Darragh Fitzgerald and Peter Elliott in restricting Faughs to a manageable total.

In attack, Crumlin looked lively throughout with a brace of Conor Murphy goals augmented by further green flags from San Caswell, Kevin Elliott and Lee Coleman.

Skerries Harps all but secured their place in Division 4 next year as they defeated North County rivals St Maur’s by 2-19 to 1-10 in Skerries on Saturday afternoon.
