A Round-Up of this weeks Go-Ahead Ireland AHL 1 & AHL 2

A Round-Up of this weeks Go-Ahead Ireland AHL 1 & AHL 2
Wed, 25 June 2025

In what was a truncated series of fixtures in Division 1 of the Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Adult Hurling League on Tuesday evening, there were still some vital matches taking place at opposite ends of AHL1.

St Brigid’s moved into third spot in the table when making the short but rewarding trip down the Navan Road to get the better of St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh by 2-22 to 1-16 at Martin Savage Park.

The contest was delicately poised in the opening-half but goals by Eoghan Healy and Diarmuid Breslin turned the tide in St Brigid’s favour after the break.

Paul Winters and Liam O’Connell kept the away scoreboard ticking over while the likes of Brian O’Sullivan, Donnacha Ryan and Jack Hannon impressed in a defensive capacity for the visitors.

Matters were even tighter as the closest of neighbours, St Jude’s and Faughs, played out an absorbing 2-18 apiece draw in Tymon Park.

The point confirmed St Jude’s presence in the top flight next year with an excellent John Carty goal helping limit the damage as they trailed by 0-9 to 1-4 at half-time.

Faughs doubled their lead in the early stages of the second-half but their opponents seized control by the end of the third quarter as they struck an unanswered 1-6, with Conor Nolan’s goal augmented by points from Joe McManus and Cian Langan.

The visitors clawed their way back into the lead through goals by Eoghan McNamara (penalty) and Scott McDonnell before McManus ensured parity by the final whistle with his fifth point from play of the contest.

The remaining fixture of the night saw Cuala register their sixth win of the season when beating Na Fianna by 2-20 to 1-18.

Go-Ahead Ireland AHL1: St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh 1-16 St Brigid’s 2-22; Kilmacud Crokes v Lucan Sarsfields OFF; St Vincent’s v Ballyboden St Enda’s B OFF; Cuala 2-20 Na Fianna 1-18; St Jude’s 2-18 Faughs 2-18; Ballyboden St Enda’s A v Naomh Barróg OFF.

In Go-Ahead Ireland AHL2, Craobh Chiaráin took another positive step towards claiming the title as they overcame Kilmacud Crokes by 2-19 to 1-17 in Clonshaugh.

With promotion to AHL1 already assured, the Donnycarney outfit will claim league honours should they beat nearest challengers Castleknock at Somerton Park this coming Friday.

The home goals arrived courtesy of Stephen O’Brien and Darren Kelly while Billy Ryan impressed throughout as he contributed eight points over the hour.

James Finn (0-4) and Aaron Cooling (0-3) also caught the eye for a Craobh side well served at the back by Kevin Warren and Eoin Forbes.

In St Anne’s Park, Thomas Davis picked up their first win in three games as they edged Raheny by 2-21 to 2-17.

The visitors led by 0-11 to 0-8 at the break thanks largely to the scoring contributions of Kevin Ward, Stephen O’Toole, Glen Brogan and Anthony Barrett.

Goals by O’Toole and Ward pushed Thomas Davis eight points clear after the break but with the hosts replying with a quickfire brace of their own, the away side dug deep with Cae Brennan, Sean Kennedy, Éanna O’Toole and Jamie Palmer all to the fore.

Go-Ahead Ireland AHL2: Craobh Chiaráin 2-19 Kilmacud Crokes 1-17; Clontarf 1-16 St Sylvester’s 0-21; Raheny 2-17 Thomas Davis 2-21; Whitehall Colmcille v Castleknock OFF; Fingallians v Naomh Mearnóg OFF; Ballinteer St John’s v Erin’s Isle OFF.
