All-Ireland semi-final spots up for decision

The All-Ireland semi-finalists will be confirmed this weekend after Mayo progressed as Connacht champions last weekend.

The line-up is as follows:

SATURDAY

Leinster: Dublin v Meath, Croke Park, 7.0

SUNDAY

Munster: Cork v Tipperary, Pairc Ui Chaoimh, 1.30

Ulster: Cavan v Donegal, Athletic Grounds, 4.0

DUBLIN v MEATH

Dublin are bidding to win the Leinster final for the 15th time in sixteen seasons, having missed out in 2010 only when they lost to Meath in the semi-final.

*Meath have beaten Dublin only once (2010) in their last 11 championship games.

*Dublin are seeking their 30th successive win in the Leinster championship, with their last defeat coming against Meath in the 2010 semi-final.

*Meath’s last win over Dublin in the Leinster final was in 2001, which was also Dublin’s last defeat in the final.

*Meath scored a total of 12-23 in their recent wins over Wicklow and Kildare.

*Dublin haven’t conceded a goal in the Leinster championship since James Stafford scored for Wicklow in the 2018 quarter-final. Since then Dublin have kept clean sheets in seven games.

*Dublin beat Meath by 1-20 to 0-19 in the Allianz League last month.

*This will be Stephen Cluxton’s 12th championship game against Meath. Dublin won nine of the previous 11, Meath won one (2010) and there was one draw (2007). He conceded eight goals in those 11 games, with Meath scoring five of them in the 2010 Leinster semi-final.

CAVAN v DONEGAL

They meet in the Ulster for a second successive year. Donegal won by five points last year in what was on-ly the second meeting between the counties in the decider.

*Cavan last beat Donegal in the championship in the 2005 qualifiers. Their last success over Donegal in the Ulster championship was in 1997.

CORK v TIPPERARY

They meet in the Munster final for the first time since 2002 when Cork won a replay. Cork are bidding to win the provincial title for the first time since 2012 while Tipperary’s last suc-cess was 85 years ago when they beat Cork by 2-8 to 1-2 in the 1935 final.
