Ballyboughal progress to Leinster IFC final

Sun, 19th November 2017

Ballyboughal's dream of provincial glory was kept alive on Saturday when they defeated Meath's Curraha, 3-7 to 0-15, in their Leinster club IFC semi-final in Ballyboughal.

The north county men will meet Wexford's Killanerin in the provincial decider away next Saturday (Wexford Park, 2.0). The Wexford champions overcame Westmeath's St Mary's, Rochfortbridge (0-13 to 2-4) in their semi--final last weekend.

Goals win games as the saying goes and it Saturday's game proved that with Ballyboughal making the most of their goal-scoring opportunities to defeat the men from the Royal County.

Ballyboughal led 1-4 to 0-5 at the interval with Ben Callanan grabbing the only goal of the opening 30 minutes with Ciaran McGinley and Niall McElligott doing well in the Boughal defence.

The influential Gerry Seavers got Boughal's second goal as well as playing a key role in the crucial third goal when placing Jack Ryan with a superb long-range ball.
