DUBLIN SHC 'A' GROUP 4

BALLYBODEN ST ENDA'S 6-29 SETANTA 0-5

Ballyboden St Enda's overwhelmed Setanta by 42 points in Thursday night's Dublin SHC 'A' Group 4 clash at Parnell Park.

While Boden had already booked their berth in the quarter-finals following their earlier victories over Lucan Sarsfields and Whitehall Colmcille back in April they concluding their group games on a resounding note.

The early signs were that it was going to be a long night for the Ballymun club as Boden fired three early points through Kevin Desmond, Aidan Mellett and Conor Dooley.

While Seán Mulholland got Setanta off the mark in the fourth minute they did not score again for almost 15 minutes, when Ryan Clarke pointed, at which stage Boden were 2-12 to 0-2 to the good.

The goals came in quick succession before the midpoint of the half with Paul Doherty and Luke McDwyer on target.

Six minutes before the break Dooley sent a penalty to the net, following a foul on McDwyer, and the Firhouse Road side led by 23 points at the interval, 3-16 to 0-2.

Dooley, who has previously lined out for the Dublin seniors in goals, clipped four first half points including an 80-metre free, and tallied 2-10 (1-0 pen, 0-5f, 0-1 '65') over the hour.

Boden added three goals in the second period while Setanta finished the game with 14 men following the dismissal of Eric Fallon.

Just prior to Fallon's red card Kevin Desmond had goaled for Boden and quickly added a point to hold a 4-22 to 0-5 advantage as the one-sided nature of this encounter continued.

In the final minutes Boden added two further goals, Dooley adding his second and sub Eoghan O'Neill on target, to bring their winning margin to a massive 42 points.
