Boden Set Sights On All-Ireland Semi Final

Boden Set Sights On All-Ireland Semi Final

Wed, 18th December 2019

Ballyboden St Enda's will be looking to dust themselves off quickly over Christmas, as they prepare for their All-Ireland Club SFC Semi-Final on January 4.

Their unbeaten year came to an end in the last game of 2019, as Ballymun Kickhams beat Boden in Tuesday night's Dublin AFL1 final at Parnell Park

Fittingly the winning score was kicked by Dublin senior John Small who along with his younger brother Paddy were joint-captains for the night. Their father Declan passed away very recently at the age of just 56 after a long battle with illness. Declan was Chairman of Ballymun Kickhams, having represented the club as a player in the past.

Kickhams’ victory brought Boden's unbeaten run to an end - a streak that saw them win 14 and draw one (against Kilmacud Crokes) of their 15 regulation AFL1 games, defeat Lucan Sarsfields in their AFL1 semi-final.

They also recorded six victories in the Dublin SFC1 (Skerries Harps, Lucan Sarsfields and Clontarf in SFC1 Group 2) before overcoming Na Fianna (after extra-time) in their quarter-final, St Jude's at semi-final stage and then Thomas Davis in the Dublin decider.

Anthony Rainbow's men then proved too strong for Newtown Blues (Louth)Garrycastle (Westmeath) and Eire Og (Carlow) to capture the Leinster club SFC title for the second time in their history earlier this month.

Boden's next target is already in their sights - their All-Ireland club SFC semi-final against Down and Ulster champions, Kilcoo, in Breffni Park on Saturday, January 4 (3.30, live TG4).

The other semi-final sees Corofin (Galway) face Nemo Rangers (Cork) in Cusack Park, Ennis on the same day (1.30, live TG4).
