Crokes defeat Boden in thrilling MHC 'A' final

Kilmacud Crokes were crowned Dublin MHC 'A' winners after a pulsating final victory over southside rivals Ballyboden St Enda's in Sunday's high-scoring thriller (2-21 to 2-16) at O'Toole Park.

Crokes came from six points in arrears at half-time, after Boden had made a stunning start to this contest, before Kilmacud turned the game around in their favour in the second-half and claim victory.

A Kevin Desmond goal for Boden inside the opening minute set the tone for the early passages as St Enda's moved 1-6 to 0-2 clear by the eighth minute with Adam Kelleher, Pearce Christie and Luke McDwyer all tagging on scores.

Just before the midpoint of the opening half Fionn O Ceallaigh cracked a terrific finish to the net to lift Crokes as Alex Hatt and Eddie Gibbons added to their momentum with scores.

However, at the interval Ballyboden still held the upperhand with a 1-14 to 1-8 lead.

Crokes though were transformed in the second period with Tom Stakelum's goal putting them on the road to victory as the got level within seven minutes of the restart with a massive free from Gibbons and two Mark Grogan points putting Boden on the back foot.

Cillian Kirwan got a late goal for Boden but by that Crokes had done enough to deserve their victory.
