Cumann na mBunscol : Hooked On Hurling

Thu, 1st June 2023

The latest Cumann na mBunscol initiative is called ‘Hooked On Hurling’ and has several elements.

The novel GAA Museum ‘Interactive Challenge’, first run in 2001, has been revived and, for the last four weeks, children from 16 different schools have tested their skills in the interactive section of the Museum.

Next up will be a Poc Fada competition in Abbotstown.

The project will finish with a blitz for schools new to hurling and the identification of new entrants for next year’s leagues.

Interestingly, the first winner of the Museum Interactive Football Challenge in 2001 was Sheffield United and Ireland soccer star Enda Stevens, representing St. Pius NS, Terenure.

The first hurling winner was Conor Henry from St.Paul’s Ayrfield. Conor is a brother of former Dublin captain David Henry.

Pictured at last week’s Museum Interactive Challenge were Mia Barkauskaite, Bobby Malone, Ruby Dunne and Adam Elhadi
