Leinster Minor A Final

FT Dublin 4-13 (25) Kildare 0-14 (14)

For the first time in eight years Dublin are Leinster Minor A champions. The young Dubs served up a solid team performance before a huge crowd in Baltinglass to dethrone reigning champions Kildare, who were aiming for a fourth title in a row.

Dublin totally dominated the opening thirty minutes of the game to lead at the interval by 4-06 (18) to Kildare’s 0-08 (8). Up front Molly Bourke was the star of the show netting a first half hat trick. These crucial three pointers were the foundation of her sides victory. Team captain Charlie Murphy also got in on the goal scoring action raising the green flag in the seventh minute.

Kildare captain Tara Rafferty was Kildare’s leading light during a tough opening half for the Lilywhites while Aisling Irhue worked hard for her side from midfield. To their credit Kildare upped the intensity in the second half of the game chipping away at the Dublin lead.

But despite Kildare’s resilience Dublin always had the upper hand on their opponents. Determination and a high work rate was key to Dublin’s success, Hannah Murphy, Líle Tully and the aforementioned Charlie Murphy to name but a few driving Dublin on. Substitutes Rebecca McEvoy and Oliva Hanley kept the score board ticking over for the Dubs to ensure the cup would be on the bus to the Capital come the final whistle.
