Dublin GAA is pleased to announce the appointment of Marcus Ó Buachalla as its new Chief Commercial Officer.

A member of Kilmacud Crokes, Marcus will be responsible for the management, growth and evolution of the Dublin GAA commercial and marketing model and will be part of the Dublin GAA leadership team, working closely with CEO Finbarr O’Mahony.

Marcus is currently Head of Communications and Media with Leinster Rugby, where he has worked for nearly 12 years. Prior to joining Leinster Rugby, he worked as an Account Director with sports and sponsorship agency, Pembroke Communications, now Teneo, and worked with a number of corporate and sports clients, including Dublin GAA.

Commenting on the appointment, Dublin GAA Chairperson, Ken O’Sullivan said: “Dublin GAA is delighted that Marcus will be joining our off-the-field team.

“Marcus will bring his tremendous passion and enthusiasm for Gaelic Games, as well as a wealth of commercial and communications experience to the role.

“We look forward to Marcus joining the team and contributing to the future success of Dublin GAA.”

Speaking about his new role, Marcus said, “I have loved my time in Leinster Rugby, working with brilliant colleagues across the commercial and marketing team and seeing the evolution of the club both on and off the field.

“But I feel the time is right to take the lessons that I have learned from my time at Leinster and apply them to a new role and a new organisation.

“Dublin GAA is one of the strongest brands in the Irish sporting landscape and there is absolutely no reason why we can’t look to grow even further.

“There is already a brilliant team in place in Parnell Park across multiple disciplines, and I look forward to working with them and with Finbarr, in the months and years ahead.”

Marcus will take up his role with Dublin GAA in December.
