Dublin Senior Hurlers to Host Open Training Session in Ballinteer St John’s

Dublin Senior Hurlers to Host Open Training Session in Ballinteer St John’s
Tue, 3 February 2026

Dublin senior hurling manager Niall Ó Ceallacháin has confirmed an open training session will take place this Saturday in Ballinteer St John’s GAA club, and is inviting supporters along to watch his team prepare for the upcoming game against Wexford in Croke Park in two weeks’ time.

Coming off the back of their impressive win over Kildare in Division 1B of the Allianz League at the weekend, Ó Ceallacháin’s team have two weeks until their next outing and are using the opportunity to invite Dublin fans to meet their heroes and to watch them being put through their paces in Marlay Park.

Speaking to dublingaa.ie, Ó Ceallacháin acknowledged the impact of the Dublin GAA supporters on him and his team since taking over.

“The support we have had since taking over has been brilliant and we had some pretty special days last season, with the game against Limerick probably standing out in most people’s minds.

"But the supporters were there throughout the year, home and away, in all conditions and they have continued in 2026 with the Walsh Cup and now most recently with the traveling support in Ennis and again at the weekend in Parnell Park.

“It’s nice to be able to show those supporters a different side to this team and our preparations and welcoming them into our set-up for the morning.

"We’d like to thank Ballinteer for their help and for facilitating us and we very much look forward to meeting as many people as possible on Saturday.”

Ballinteer St John’s are equally excited and looking forward to welcoming supporters to their home on Saturday.

Their Chairperson Conor Dolan said, “This is a special event for us as a club. These events don’t happen very often so we are delighted to host it and hopefully Niall and his players have a great morning with us in Marlay Park and they see the warmth and the enthusiasm that we have here as a club for hurling and for Dublin hurling.

“We would encourage as many supporters as possible to come down, not just members of Ballinteer St John’s, but from all clubs in the locality and beyond.

"You will all be very welcome and we’ll make sure that the boys in blue feel equally welcome.”

The training session starts at 10.30am this Saturday morning, 7 February 2026, with an opportunity to meet the players for autographs and selfies afterwards.

Supporters are advised that there will not be parking facilities available at the clubhouse and are instead advised to use public transport where possible or to park elsewhere in the locality or in the public car parks in Marlay Park and to walk to the training session.

Details for the event are as follows:

10.30am: open training session starts

11.45am: meet and greet and signing session starts

12.15pm: session ends

Niall and the team would love to see as many supporters, young and old, along for the training session and look forward to meeting as many as possible for a few selfies and autographs after!
