Dublin's Allianz Football League campaign- the story so far
Fri, 6 February 2026

Dublin have scored 2-29 and conceded 2-38 in their two Allianz NFL Division 1 games (v Donegal & v Mayo) to date with nine players contributing to the scoring tally.

Coláiste Eoin past pupils Con O’Callaghan and Luke Breathnach lead the way with 0-8 and 1-5 respectively with the latter’s tally all coming from play.

The remainder of the scorers are a mix of seasoned attackers like Paddy Small, Sean Bugler and Cormac Costello with defenders Conor Tyrrell and Nathan Doran chipping in with two points apiece in that narrow loss to Donegal at Croke Park.

Breathnach is joined in the list by his Ballinteer St John’s clubmate Jack Lundy, whose encouraging league debut in Castlebar was marked by an early point.

The talented duo were pivotal as Ballinteer claimed the Dublin Under 21 ‘A’ Football Championship title back in 2022, with Breathnach leading the way when scoring 1-8 in their final win against Ballyboden St Enda’s.

Lundy was one of two players that made their league debut against Mayo with Kevin Stephenson from Castleknock being introduced as a first-half substitute.

In total, Ger Brennan has used 25 players in Dublin’s two matches to date with Rob Shaw, Eoin Kennedy, Ethan Dunne and Páidí White all making their league debuts when featuring against Donegal.

Dublin Scorers: Con O'Callaghan 0-8 (1 2pf, 1 2p, 0-2f, 0-1 ‘45’); Luke Breathnach 1-5; Paddy Small 1-3; Cormac Costello 0-5 (1 2p, 0-1f, 0-1 45); Nathan Doran 0-2; Conor Tyrell 0-2; Seán Bugler 0-2; Killian McGinnis 0-1; Jack Lundy 0-1.

Dublin Debuts:

Ethan Dunne

Dunne has been rewarded for some excellent performances for both his club Skerries Harps and his college team DCU Dóchas Éireann. The classy midfielder was central to Skerries winning the Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Senior 2 Football Championship in 2025 while also winning the Go-Ahead Ireland AFL2 title. He also won a Sigerson Cup with DCU last year, being selected on the Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup Team of the Year.

Eoin Kennedy

Kennedy has been a key component in Cuala’s recent renaissance as the Dalkey outfit claimed SFC titles at county, provincial and national level. His ability to threaten from deep is a feature of his play and he will go down in Cuala folklore after scoring the dramatic winning point against Kilmacud Crokes to claim their first ever Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin SFC crown in 2024.

Robert Shaw

The Castleknock defender has long held a reputation as one of the most consistent half-backs in the Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Senior Football Championship. Came on as a late replacement in the 2022 O’Byrne Cup final win against Laois. One of three players to feature this year for Dublin from Castleknock. Played minor for Dublin in 2016 and also at Under 20 level two years later.

Páidí White

Páidí is a determined and athletic player that has shown an incredible work ethic both on and off the field during his time at St Sylvester’s. Has shown his leadership qualities by captaining Syls to the Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Senior ‘B’ Football Championship in 2022, the same year they gained promotion from the Go-Ahead Ireland AFL2. Those qualities were recognised as he continued to captain the side in both 2023 and 2024.

Jack Lundy

Lundy is following in the footsteps of Ballinteer greats such as Coman Goggins and Johnny McNally and he kicked two points as St John’s claimed their first ever Adult ‘A’ Football Championship when winning the U21 renewal in 2022. Played wing-back on the Dublin team that lost to Kildare after extra-time in the Leinster MFC final in 2019 with his vision and placed-ball accuracy subsequently honed at Sigerson Cup level for TU Dublin.

Kevin Stephenson

Another of Dublin’s newcomers from Somerton Park, Kevin made his senior league debut with Castleknock back in 2018. He won AFL2 the following year and has since become a key figure around the middle third. His speed and size have seen him operate at midfield and half-forward with him well able to win kickouts and also pop up with scores at crucial times. Captained Castleknock to the quarter-finals of the Go-Ahead Ireland SFC1 last year, where they narrowly lost out to Ballyboden St Enda’s.
