Dublin's Allianz Hurling League campaign- the story so far

Dublin’s two Allianz Hurling League matches against Clare and Kildare have yielded a tally of 3-41 while the Dubs have conceded 3-29 so far.

Dónal Burke once again leads the way in terms of scorers having amassed twenty-two points over both games with all bar two of those scores coming from placed balls.

In total, twelve players have contributed to the tally with Kilmacud Crokes trio claiming the next three spots through Brian Hayes, Ronan Hayes and Dara Purcell.

Another of their clubmates, Conal Ó Riain, impressed as a second-half substitute against Kildare, clipping two glorious points with debutant Cathal Kennedy also on target when introduced.

In total, twelve players have contributed on the scoreboard with St Brigid’s duo Andrew Dunphy and Cian O’Sullivan sharing four points in Dublin’s Round 1 defeat to Clare.

Dublin Debuts:

Conor Groarke

After a strong Walsh Cup showing, Conor made his league debut when starting against Clare in Ennis and retained his place as Dublin defeated Kildare in Round 2.

Played minor and Under 20 for Dublin, winning the Friends of Dublin Hurling Player of the Year award for 2025.

Played a major part in Cuala winning the All-Ireland Club Senior Football Championship last year, scoring the insurance point as they overcame Errigal Ciarán.

Cathal Kennedy

Cathal was introduced as a second-half substitute against Kildare, having impressed with his versatility in recent years at both minor and Under 20 levels for Dublin.

Showcased his leadership qualities when captaining Lucan Sarsfields to the Dublin Minor ‘A’ Hurling Championship title back in 2023, scoring the winning point from centre-back in their thrilling 1-19 to 1-18 victory over Kilmacud Crokes.

Followed that up with winning the U21 ‘A’ crown with Lucan the following year when overcoming Faughs in the final.  

Tom Brennan

A talented dual player, Tom captained the Dublin minor footballers in 2020, having also featured for them a year previously.

Plays further forward in hurling and has found a home for himself in the Na Fianna inside-forward line.

His hurling highlight so far was unquestionably scoring both goals as Na Fianna defeated Sarsfields in January 2025 to win the All-Ireland Club Senior Hurling Championship title.
