Flashback: Dublin v Galway - Leinster Championship 2024

Flashback: Dublin v Galway - Leinster Championship 2024
By Conor MartinThu, 14 May 2026

Dublin head to Galway this Saturday, hoping to continue their bid for a spot in this year's Leinster final.

Dublin have previous form of heading to the west and getting a result, just as they did when they beat the Tribesmen 2-27 to 1-24 back in 2024.

Dublin turned on the style, ending Galway’s championship hopes at Pearse Stadium as Micheál Donoghue’s Boys in Blue guided Dublin to a ruthless 2-27 to 1-24 victory and a place in the Leinster decider.

Galway captain David Burke saw red early on, with Dublin seizing the momentum instantly.

Donal Burke began to dictate the game, helping the visitors outscore Galway 0-6 to 0-2 in the spell after the sending-off.

Despite playing into a strong wind, Dublin went in only two points behind at half-time, 0-19 to 2-11, after goals from Sean Currie and Burke left them perfectly positioned for the second half.

But when the teams came back out, Dublin took control of affairs in Salthill.

With the breeze at their backs and the extra man telling, they fired six unanswered points early in the second half. Chris Crummey and Burke drove the charge as Galway struggled badly with Dublin’s pace, physicality and dominance in the air.

Galway managed just three Evan Niland frees during a 27-minute spell while Dublin piled on 0-11 points and scores flowed from all over the pitch.

A brief lifeline arrived when substitute Declan McLoughlin blasted home a late goal to cut the gap to six, but Dublin responded immediately. Scores from Paddy Smyth, Conor Donohoe and Colin Currie slammed the door shut and killed off any hopes of a comeback.

Dublin advanced to a Leinster final showdown with Kilkenny, where we fell to defeat.
