After the restart, Ryan helped Dublin push ahead by a point in the 42nd minute, but at the other end, Limerick substitute Seanie Tobin was doing his bit for his side after the Dubs had scored nine points in a row.
Then, as the game reached its climax, Dotsy O'Callaghan scored Dublin's only goal of the game, and it would prove to be a crucial one. O'Callaghan capitalised on a mix-up at the back and was able to fire past Nicky Quaid in the Limerick net.
Tobin would respond by keeping Limerick in it, but then two Dublin scores from Cian Boland and Ryan (who would finish with 0-12) helped us advance despite Chris Crummey seeing red late on.
It was Dublin's second win over Limerick that year, after previously beating them in the league quarter-final. Our summer would end in the next round, as we were beaten by Waterford in the All-Ireland quarter-final.
