Dublin and Tyrone are preparing to meet in this weekend’s All-Ireland Senior Football Championship quarter-final, which takes place on Saturday evening at Croke Park.
Those of a sky blue persuasion will be hoping for a similar outcome to that of the 1995 All-Ireland final this weekend, in which the Dubs claimed a slender one-point win to lift the Sam Maguire at the expense of the Red Hands.
Tyrone raced into a three-point lead, but back came Dublin, and by the 15th minute, Dublin found themselves a point up thanks to a lovely curling point from Dessie Farrell. But at the other end, Peter Canavan, who would go on to score 11 points for his county, was keeping Tyrone in it.
Dublin would get themselves a goal before the break when Jason Sherlock found himself one-on-one with the onrushing Tyrone keeper Finbar McConnell and managed to squeeze the ball past him before Charlie Redmond made sure the ball ended up in the net to give the Boys in Blue a four-point lead in the 26th minute.
Paul Curran would get his first point three minutes before the break to extend that lead to five and give Dublin a 1-8 to 0-6 advantage at half-time.
