Galway defeat Dubs in AIG Fenway Classic

Dublin were beaten 55-39 by reigning All-Ireland champions, Galway, in their AIG Fenway Classic semi-final in Boston on Sunday.

A youthful Dublin side acquitted themselves reasonably well under the Super 11s format with new manager Pat Gilroy utilising the venture to look at some of the talent in the county.

In many ways it was a tale of the goalkeepers as Galway's Colm Callanan starred for the Tribesmen to keep the Dubs at bay.

The game also marked the return to action in the Dublin colours for Danny Sutcliffe, captain for the day, and he showed glimpses of his talent.

Dublin's Cillian Costello and Galway's Daithí Burke were sin-binned in the tenth minute after referee, Johnny Ryan, consulted video referee Donal O’Grady following a scuffle at the Galway goal in the opening half at the end of which Galway led 29-22.

Galway stretched their advantage in the second-half thanks to three five-pointers, goals from outside 20m, in quick succession from top scorer, Jason Flynn, as Galway ran out comfortable winners.
