Go-Ahead Ireland AFL 1 Round-Up - Tuesday 3rd June

Go-Ahead Ireland AFL 1 Round-Up - Tuesday 3rd June
Wed, 4 June 2025

St Patrick’s Donabate withstood some late Fingal Ravens pressure to secure a 1-13 to 0-13 victory in their Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Adult Football League Division 1 encounter in Rolestown on Tuesday night.

Despite playing with a strong breeze and playing down the hill, the visitors struggled to impose themselves in the first-half but a goal from Clyde Burke saw St Pat’s take a narrow 1-7 to 0-7 lead by half-time.

However, they were far more assured after the break, showing the form that has brought them to the summit of the table, with Ravens being held scoreless in the second-half until the 49th minute.

Dylan Knight top scored with six points for Donabate and with Burke kicking 1-2, they survived a late onslaught thanks to the earlier scoring contributions of Ollie Brooks (0-3) and Adam Dunne (0-2).

There was another three-point away in win Hyde Park as Aodhán Clabby saved two penalties when helping Ballinteer St John’s to edge Cuala by 0-17 to 0-14.

The visitors started on the front foot through a trio of Jack Lundy points and a Liam Fenton score and a two-pointed effort from Lundy edged Ballinteer 0-6 to 0-4 ahead by the end of the first quarter.

Cuala began to impress from that point but were denied the opening goal as Clabby repelled them from the spot while four further points by Lundy ensured the sides entered the break deadlocked at 0-11 apiece.

Scorers proved harder to source in the second-half but a two-pointer from Luke Breathnach and another Lundy point edged St John’s into a marginal 0-14 to 0-13 lead prior to Clabby’s second decisive intervention in the 50th minute.

This save and the influential efforts of Eoghan Fitzpatrick and Carl McDonnell proved key as the visitors registered their third win on the bounce through late points from Seamus Fenton, Liam Smith and the excellent Lundy.

Go-Ahead Ireland AFL 1 Table

In Somerton Park, three goals in the first-half saw Castleknock record an impressive 4-19 to 1-12 win against Thomas Davis.

Ger McDermottroe top scored for the hosts and he raised the first green flag as they built up a healthy 3-9 to 1-7 half-time lead courtesy of further goals from Evan McSherry and Conor Chawke.

Castleknock continued to dominate upon the restart with Ciaran Murphy at centre-back and Niall Milmore at midfield impressing with a brilliant goal from Kevin Stephenson completing a routine win.

It was similarly comfortable in Silver Park as Kilmacud Crokes proved too strong for St Sylvester’s, winning by 2-25 to 0-12.

The hosts led by 1-12 to 0-8 at half-time and highlighted their scoring threat throughout the side with eleven different players contributing to their imposing points tally while Craig Dias and Michael Mullin accounted for their goals.

Elsewhere, Lucan Sarsfields and Na Fianna enjoyed one-point victories against St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh and Ballymun Kickhams respectively while Clontarf defeated St Mary’s Saggart by 1-20 to 0-10.
