Go-Ahead Ireland AFL 2 Round-Up - Tuesday 3rd June

Go-Ahead Ireland AFL 2 Round-Up - Tuesday 3rd June
Wed, 4 June 2025

Naomh Barróg impressed from the outset on their way to a comfortable 0-20 to 0-10 victory against Na Fianna in their Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Adult Football League Division 2 clash in Collinstown on Tuesday evening.

Points from Harry Nolan, Jack Kelly, Paul Tolan and Conor Gibson helped settle them into the contest and they moved 0-8 to 0-3 clear by the interval following further scores by Daniel Higgins, Tolan, Luke Nolan and Kelly.

The visitors continued to control matters after the break through the aerial ability of Ryan Alexander, Aodhán Ó Donnchú and Gibson and enhanced their position courtesy of points by Kelly, Tolan and Higgins, who all finished with 0-4 apiece.

Further down the field, Cathal Rogers excelled in the Barróg defence and they finished on the front foot with points by Ciaran Gallagher, Matthew Nolan and substitute Eoin Harte allowing them to ease home by the final whistle.

In Lawless Park, Fingallians continued their move up the table as they proved too strong for Round Towers Lusk, prevailing by 6-18 to 0-10.

Despite taking an early two-point lead, Fins struggled for fluency in the first-half but points by Paul Flynn, Killian Murphy, Sean O’Neill and Dillon Staunton kept their scoreboard ticking over.

Of more significance were the green flags that they raised through Dan King, Murphy and Stephen Hickey as they built a slightly flattering 3-6 to 0-9 interval advantage.

With Hickey and Staunton combining well at midfield and Lewis Nugent Byrne and Murphy causing headaches for the away defence with runs from deep, Fingallians took complete control in the third quarter.

Further goals arrived in the second-half from O’Neill, Oisin Lynch and Murphy and they pulled away by the final whistle thanks to points from Flynn, O’Neill, King, Ryan Groves, Staunton, Nugent Byrne and Murphy.

Go-Ahead Ireland AFL 2 Table

It proved another encouraging night for Templeogue Synge Street following a difficult start to the season as they got the better of Pobal Parnell by 1-16 to 1-13 at Dolphin Park.

Luke O’Brien and Scott McConnell accounted for the bulk of the home scores while Darragh Murphy and Kevin Hughes were hugely influential for Synger over the hour.

At the summit of the table, St Vincent’s continue to lead the way with goals at crucial times seeing them defeat Naomh Olaf by 2-11 to 0-12 at Pairc Naomh Uinsionn.

They remain two points clear of a Skerries Harps side that eased past Naomh Mearnog by 4-17 to 1-7 in Portmarnock while St Brigid’s gained a vital 1-14 to 0-15 away win at fellow promotion chasers Raheny.
