Cuala pulled away in the second-half as they overcame Ballymun Kickhams by 8-10 to 1-9 in their Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Adult Football League Division 3 encounter in Hyde Park on Tuesday night.

The hosts plundered 2-2 in the early stages but with the wind at their backs, Ballymun responded impressively to limit the damage to four points by the break.

However, it proved a brief stay of execution for Kickhams as Cuala regained control of matters with Luke Twomey scoring a hat-trick of goals, including one from the penalty spot.

Peter Jackson (2-1) and Oscar Hussey (2-5) helped build an unassailable lead as the contest evolved with the home scoring completed by Mark Smith (1-3), Killian O’Shea and Cuán Nugent.

It proved far tighter in St Anne’s Park as Clanna Gael Fontenoy continue to impress towards the top of the table following their 1-17 to 0-13 victory against Clontarf.

The foundation for their win lay at the back through the efforts of Dean Holmes and Jack O’Donnell while Oisín Darcy, Conor Hennessy and Colm O’Connell ensured a winning total for the visitors.

That win kept them level on points alongside joint leaders St Maur’s, who secured their eighth win of the campaign when beating Clann Mhuire by 1-14 to 0-9 in Rush.

In Go-Ahead Ireland AFL4, St Jude’s registered an important win in their bid to remain in the division as they defeated Good Counsel/Liffey Gaels by 2-16 to 2-11 in Tymon Park.

John Toye top scored for the hosts with 1-5 while Hugh O’Neill also made a valuable scoring contribution as he added 1-3 over the hour with John Carty impressing throughout for the Templeogue side.

The hosts were also indebted to the quality of Diarmuid McLoughlin up front as he chipped in with four points while a brace of points each by James O’Loughlin and Ryan Rooney saw Jude’s home with five points to spare.

It proved far tighter at the 12th Lock as Lucan Sarsfields improved their safety prospects as they overcame Geraldine P. Moran by 4-10 to 0-20.

An early goal by Ross Campion set the tone of early Lucan control but six unanswered points from the visitors saw them overtake their opponents in the closing stages.

A frantic and chaotic period of injury time ensued before the hosts made sure of the win as wing-back Cathal Shanahan burst through for a superb goal worthy of winning any match.

At the opposite end of the table, both Castleknock and O’Dwyer’s franked their promotion credentials with wins over St Finian’s Newcastle and St Sylvester’s respectively.
