St Vincent’s produced a clinical performance in tricky conditions as they overcame Naomh Barróg by 0-24 to 1-13 in their Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Adult Hurling League Division 1 encounter at Pairc Naomh Uinsionn on Tuesday night.

Both teams enjoyed generous amounts of possession but it was the ability of the hosts to take their chances that proved the difference with Ken Ryan impressing with five points from play.

Dara Perry kept the home scoreboard ticking over with four points from long-distance frees while Brian Bolger looked lively with his three points helping Vinnies over the line.

There was another home win at Martin Savage Park as St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh scored goals at crucial times on their way to a 5-20 to 2-24 victory over St Jude’s.

A goal in the opening minute by David Phelan from Plunkett’s set the tone for the free-scoring encounter and while St Jude’s impressed initially, the hosts edged in front by the interval following further goals by Ian Sherry and Cian Boland.

Midfielder Eoghan Byrne played a key role for the hosts throughout and while the lead exchanged hands during the second-half, a brace of superb goals from Brian McDonnell settled the tie in Plunketts’ favour.

Elsewhere, Kilmacud Crokes kept up their title push with a comfortable 2-22 to 1-8 win against Faughs with nearest challengers Lucan Sarsfields succumbing to Cuala by 3-22 to 0-13.

AHL1: Ballyboden St Enda’s A 0-19 St Brigid’s 1-16; Kilmacud Crokes 2-22 Faughs 1-8; Na Fianna 2-30 Ballyboden St Enda’s B 2-21; St Oliver Plunkett’s/ER 5-20 St Jude’s 2-24; St Vincent’s 0-24 Naomh Barróg 1-13; Cuala 3-22 Lucan Sarsfields 0-13.

In AHL2, Craobh Chiaráin kept their noses in front at the top of the table as they secured their sixth win of the season when defeating Thomas Davis by 3-15 to 0-13 in Clonshaugh.

Billy Ryan was in sparkling form for the hosts, finishing the contest with 1-9 to his name as Craobh added to their tally through the scoring contributions of Cian Derwin, Darren Kelly and Jack Murray.

Further down the field, Lee Allen was an assured presence between the sticks with both Mark Hayes and Gary Kelly hugely reliable as the Donnycarney side saw out the game in relative comfort.

Castleknock also enhanced their promotion prospects as they were pushed all the way before overcoming Naomh Mearnóg by 0-24 to 1-18.

Ballinteer St John’s were another team to register a welcome win as they moved away from the relegation places following their 3-11 to 0-14 success against St Sylvester’s in Marlay Park.

Ultimately, it was the ability of the hosts to find the net that proved the difference with Tommy Cullen, Pat Steele and Tom Aherne all raising green flags for St John’s.

Cullen accrued 1-7 in total (0-5f) and with Rob Aherne adding three points, Ballinteer kept on the front foot thanks to influential displays by Iain Ó hEithir, Cody Graham and Conor Quinn.

AHL2: Ballinteer St John’s 3-11 St Sylvester’s 0-14; Clontarf 0-10 Raheny 0-14; Craobh Chiaráin 3-15 Thomas Davis 0-13; Fingallians 1-21 Kilmacud Crokes 1-22; Naomh Mearnóg 1-18 Castleknock 0-24; Whitehall Colmcille 1-15 Erin’s Isle 2-18.
