LGFA - Dublin to take on Mayo this coming Sunday in the TG4 SFC Rd 1
By Patricia MonahnaMon, 1 June 2026

THIS SUNDAY … June 7th, Dublin will take on Mayo in the opening round of the TG4 All Ireland senior championship. The Mayo venue for the fixture is yet to be officially announced by the LGFA. The contest will be broadcast live on TG4, throw in time 1pm.

The last time the two Counties meet in championship fare was back on the 10th of June 2024. On that occasion Dublin chalked up a 1-10 to 0-05 victory over the westerners.

Team captain Carla Rowe was her sides top scorer with 1-02 with Hannah Tyrell tagging on 0-03. Olwen Carey, Lauren Magee and Sinéad Goldrick also contributed to the Dubs scoring tally. Both teams have gone through numerous changes in personnel both on and off the field of play since that championship meeting two years ago.

Back in August 2025 former All Ireland winner (2003) Diane O’Hora took over from Liam McHale as Mayo manager. The same month, Paul Casey and Derek Murray successfully guided Dublin to their seventh All Ireland title having succeeded Mick Bohan back in January that same year.

On May 3rd last, Mayo ran Galway (many pundits favourites to lift the Brendan Martin cup this season) close in the Connacht final with just a goal separating the two sides at the final whistle. Meanwhile, Dublin defeated a strong Kildare outfit in their provincial final by six points to retain their Leinster crown.

There is always a healthy rivalry between these two Counties and next Sunday’s encounter is sure to be another entertaining encounter.
