DUBS STARS FOOTBALL CHALLENGE

DUBLIN 3-19 DUBS STARS FOOTBALL 1-14

Oisin Lynch top-scored as Dublin cruised to victory over the Dublin Bus/Herald Dubs Stars in Saturday's football challenge at Pairc Barrog, Kilbarrack.

The Fingallians sharpshooter, a member of the Dublin U21 All-Ireland winning squad of 2017, tallied 2-3 from play and with Conor McHugh hitting 1-5 (0-2f) the Dubs held the upperhand for most of the game.

McHugh opened the scoring when converting a free in the opening minute before Kevin McManamon replied for the Dubs stars.

But Dublin made an early move with points from Cormac Diamond, Lynch and Cormac Howley - the Round Tower Lusk man kicked four points from play overall.

McManamon had added his second point before Lynch struck for Dublin's opening goal.

The Dubs Stars briefly rallied with Ryan Basquel on target twice before Lynch scored his second goal in the 20th minute.

A Micheal McCarthy goal suggest the Dubs Stars were going to battle back before the break but McHugh's goal late in the half gave Jim Gavin's men a comfortable 3-9 to 1-4 interval advantage.

Dublin stretched further in front after the break with scores from Jack Hazley (two), Cormac Diamond (two), McHugh and Lynch and went 17 points clear at one stage.

The Dubs Stars gamely battled on with Sean Bugler (two), Shane Horan, Stephen Smith and McManamon all slotting points.

Further scores from Basquel, McManamon, Ger Brennan and Tom Lahiff reduced the gap even more before Lynch and Hazley closed out the Dublin scoring.
