ST JUDE’S 3-11 ST BRIGID’S 0-12
A Kevin McManamon-inspired St Jude’s were too strong for their northside opponents in this Dublin SFC quarter-final at O’Toole Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Dublin forward scored 3-5 as the Tymon North men booked their semi-final berth as they go in search of a historic Dublin SFC title.
Jude’s made the wind advantage count in the opening half and led 1-7 to 0-1 at the break with Brigid’s lone score coming in first half injury-time from Daire Plunkett.
McManamon hit 1-4 in that opening spell with his goal coming in the 19th minute to make it 1-6 to 0-0 at that stage with earlier scores also coming from Collie Murphy, Brendan McManamon and Ronan Joyce.
Any hopes Tony McEntee’s men had of a second half revival were rocked with McManamon goaled immediately after the restart leaving the Russell Park men with a mountain to climb.
Five minutes later McManamon completed his hat-trick and Jude’s were now 3-7 to 0-3 clear.
The freetaking of Emlyn Mulligan cut into the deficit with three pointed frees but Brigid’s were in need of goals by that junction as the game petered out to its inevitable conclusion.
