Na Fianna make it a minor ‘A’ double

Tue, 9th December 2014

Na Fianna are minor ‘A’ dual champions after their footballers defeated Kilmacud Crokes 2-9 to 1-6 in last Sunday’s Dublin MFC ‘A’ final at O’Toole Park.

Crokes led at half-time by three points but the St Mobhi Road side were the dominant force in the second period as they deservedly swept to their six-point margin to add the football title to the hurling equivalent won five weeks ago.

Dublin minors Aaron Byrne (0-6, 0-4f, 0- ‘45’) and the highly influential Alistair Fitzgerald (1-2) were the scorers-in-chief for Na Fianna while at the back Eoin Murchan was superb at centre-back and Seán Ryan gave a towering display at midfield.

However, it was the Stillorgan lads who were in front at the break, 1-4 to 0-4, following good scores by Conor Kelly and Tom Fox while their goal came shortly before the break when Na Fianna keeper Jack Carey was adjudged to have carried Andrew McGowan’s attempt over his goal line.
