Goals in either half by Meath's Emma Duggan and Ciara Smith proved decisive as All-Ireland champions Dublin endured a second league loss, but joint manager Derek Murray said they are trying out a lot of players at the moment.
“You always want to win every game you play,” said Murray. “To lose it in the manner we did was a bit disappointing. We said at the start of the year we needed to find new talent and we need to give these girls opportunities to play. There’ll be huge learnings for them.
“We have a panel of 40/50 maybe in at the moment. You are trying to give the girls opportunities. They are training just as hard as anyone else. It’s nice to give them the chance to represent Dublin and to put on a Dublin jersey; albeit in difficult circumstances as a lot of our regular players are only returning to the fold.”
A tough task lies ahead this coming Saturday (Feb 7th) as Dublin travel to Fraher Field (2.45pm) to take on top of the table Waterford who have enjoyed a perfect start to their campaign with away from home victories over Armagh and Kerry.
This game will be broadcast live on TG4.
Both teams have just a five day turn around to prepare for what will now be a key game for the Dubs as they aim to get their 2026 league campaign back on track.
