PREVIEW: Dublin v Antrim Allianz Hurling League

PREVIEW: Dublin v Antrim Allianz Hurling League
Thu, 26 February 2026

Dublin will look to take another positive step towards securing topflight status when they face Antrim in their Allianz National Hurling League Division 1B encounter in Corrigan Park on Sunday afternoon (2pm).

Antrim have experienced a mixed campaign to date but were back close to their best as they beat Carlow last weekend to claim their first victory of the season.

That 0-25 to 0-12 victory was as comprehensive as the scoreline suggests, as Seaan Elliott top-scored with nine points from play and frees, while his Dunloy club-mates were also in fine form as Conal Cunning hit five and Keelan Molloy contributed four points in a man-of-the-match display.

It was at the other end of the field that the tone was set however as Antrim battled and scrapped for everything on a day for rolling up their sleeves to kickstart their league campaign.

They now enter Sunday’s encounter with renewed optimism against a Dublin team that left Croke Park last Saturday evening with mixed emotions.

Certainly, there was pride in the manner that the Dubs finished the contest, forcing a draw against Wexford through a late point from captain Chris Crummey, despite playing the closing stages with thirteen players.

However, there was also a degree of frustration in the aftermath of that 4-19 to 3-22 draw, with early goals from Cian O’Sullivan and John Hetherton offering a springboard that Dublin failed to fully avail of.

The return of both Hetherton and Fergal Whitely to the forward line for their first games of the year was another positive to take from the encounter with the St Vincent’s attacker netting twice and proving a handful on the edge of the square all evening.

His presence will boost the potency of a Dublin team that has scored 7-60 in their three NHL1B games so far, conceding 6-50 over the same period.

Donal Burke is top scorer with 1-31 with the other Dublin goals coming courtesy of Hetherton (2), Ronan Hayes (2), Brian Hayes and Cian O’Sullivan.
