Dublin’s championship summer continues on Saturday, as we take on Cork at Croke Park in the preliminary quarter-final of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (throw-in 6:15pm).

Dessie Farrell’s Dubs regrouped and dug deep against a defiant Derry team last time out to advance from Group 4 in second place.

Dublin were more clinical than they were in the defeat to Armagh, with Con O’Callaghan, Killian McGinnis, Cormac Costello and Paddy Small helping the Boys in Blue make a lightning-quick start in Newry.

Sharing 13 points each at the break, Dublin were able to shake off Derry through the efforts of captain O’Callaghan, Seán Bugler and Lee Gannon, whose points helped Dublin claim a win despite the late Derry onslaught.

O’Callaghan and Costello finished as Dublin’s top scorers as things clicked in front of the posts for the Dubs.

Dublin will now be hoping to build on their gritty performance against another county that will surely battle to the end – Cork.

Dublin last played and beat Cork in championship settings back in 2022 in the All-Ireland Quarter Final, while Cork last beat Dublin in the 2010 All-Ireland semi-final before winning their last All-Ireland title to date against Down.

The beaten Munster semi-finalists edged out Roscommon in a winner-takes-all clash last weekend.

They were somewhat unfortunate not to get something to show for their efforts against Meath in the first round of Group 2 and were far from their best against Kerry in their second outing.

However, they showed exactly what they could do against the Rossies and kept their opposition at arm's length after having a four-point lead at the break.

Paul Walsh and Cathail O’Mahony helped John Cleary’s men over the line, while Mark Cronin and Seán McDonnell scored 0-5 & 0-4, respectively, and the Rebels will be looking to them as they aim to end Dublin’s summer this Saturday.

You can back the Boys in Blue as we look to extend our summer by buying tickets here.

The game will also be shown live on GAA+ from 6:15pm.
