PREVIEW: Go-Ahead Ireland Senior 1 Football Championship Round 3

PREVIEW: Go-Ahead Ireland Senior 1 Football Championship Round 3
By Conor MartinFri, 5 September 2025

It’s do-or-die time as the final round of the Go-Ahead Ireland Senior 1 Football Championship takes place this weekend.

Clubs will battle it out for a top-two finish- and therefore a Quarter Final place- while others are looking to avoid a dreaded relegation play-off.

Group 1

Go-Ahead Ireland SFC 1 Group 1

At O'Toole Park on Sunday we're in for a treat as Ballinteer St Johns take on Na Fianna. The winner will go through to the quarter-finals while the loser will see their championship come to an end. A draw would be enough to see Ballinteer through, based on their better score difference.

Ballyboden St Enda's take on St Vincent's at Parnell Park at the same time (4pm)- live on DubsTV.

Boden are already guaranteed top spot and will want to finish the group with a 100% record, while Vinnies are stuck on zero points and are set to play in this year's relegation play-offs.

Group 2

In the championship's second group, Ballymun Kickhams will guarantee their place in the last eight with a win over Whitehall Colmcille in a game that takes place at 2pm on Sunday at Parnell Park (live on TG4).

However, should Whitehall win, they'd leapfrog their opponents and secure a knockout place with four points compared to Ballymun's three points.

Over at O'Toole Park, Templeogue Synge Street and Castleknock will battle it out for a place in the knockout stages.

Castleknock know that they'll be through to the quarter finals with a win, while Templeogue could also reach the knockout stages with a victory, depending on the outcome of the group's other game.

Group 3

There's another winner-takes-all tie when Raheny take on Lucan Sarsfields at Parnell Park on Saturday (5:30pm- live on DubsTV).

Both teams are on two points each, and the winner of this will go through to the quarter-finals and the loser will be out. However, if it's a draw, Raheny would advance thanks to them having a solitary point difference that is better than Lucan.

Over at O'Toole Park, Cuala will be hoping to pick up a third win from three when they play Thomas Davis. Cuala are already through in top spot, while their opponents will be hoping to find some sort of positive result ahead of playing in the relegation play-off.

Group 4

Go-Ahead Ireland SFC 1 Group 4

It's all to play for in Group 4, with permutations aplenty and with all four teams still in with a chance of progressing to the quarter finals.

Clontarf need to beat St Judes to have any chance of reaching the knockout stages when they meet at O'Toole Park at 3:30pm on Saturday. Clontarf would also need other results to go their way to progress.

Judes are also eyeing a win that could help them secure a knockout place, depending on the result in the group's other game.

100% starters to Group 4 Kilmacud Crokes will put themselves into the quarter finals if they beat St Sylvesters at Parnell Park (Saturday, 3.30pm- live on DubsTV).

However, the Malahide club will be waiting to pounce; should they beat Crokes and Judes slip up and lose or draw, then Sylvesters will advance.
