PTSB Dublin Senior 2 Camogie Championship Semi Finals & Shield Final Preview & Ticket Info

It’s time to get down to the business end of the Championship as we look forward to our Senior 2 semifinals this weekend. A great double-header on offer in O’Dwyers GAA on Saturday, and well worth a trip.

Semifinal 1 has all the ingredients to be a classic with local southside rivals Ballinteer St. Johns and Naomh Olaf throwing in at 3.30pm. This is a play-off between the highest scoring team in Group A against the higher scoring team in Group B. What’s not to look forward to? Ballinteer came through Group A with a perfect three from three record. Naomh Olaf were not far off that actually with two wins from three. And they only lost by one puck of a ball in their away trip to Naomh Maurs, which is never an easy place to get a result. So, they are not to be underestimated, and likely won’t be.

On the other side of the draw Naomh Maurs, who also topped their group with a perfect record, will likely go in as favourites in Semifinal 2. However they face off against Good Council Liffey Gaels, who themselves finished with two wins out of three. Their only defeat being against Ballinteer St Johns in the last round of the group stages, after they had already secured their semifinal slot, and were likely keeping their powder dry in that game. Naomh Maurs have a slightly better defensive record, conceding only 35 points, but having scored 3-10 against Erins Isle and 3-14 against Raheny, Good Council will relish the task of breaking down that defence.

That’s not to forget the Shield final for Senior 2, which pits Erins Isle against St. Peregrines, in Erins Isle at 12.30pm. The home team will likely come in as favourites having secured home advantage with a hard-fought win away to Raheny. St. Peregrines secured third spot having ground out a draw away to St. Vincent’s and nipping them on points difference. Neither team has an issue scoring, 47 points and 45 points respectively. But Isles have the slightly better defensive record. A final’s a final and a trophy’s a trophy, and with both teams scoring freely this has the potential to be a classic also. Roll on Saturday!
